Boreal installs easily: connect Ethernet, plug in power, and turn it on. The system uses hardware-backed encryption, so no startup password is required. Data remains protected even if the device is lost or stolen, and low-level system access is tightly secured.
Boreal is not intended to function as a system of record. Conversation history and data retention settings can be configured or limited based on organizational needs. Retention changes can be requested through NORHI as part of a standard work order.
In the event of loss or theft, the risk profile is comparable to and likely lower than that of properly encrypted storage devices.
